This is for Rufus full name (Brookdale Rufus) Anglo Arab, Palomino he had a wonderful Flaxon Main and Tail we brought him for Gary as a 3 year old, after Gary became interested in riding and we took him with lesley to her riding lessons we saw Rufus in a Field and used to make a fuss of him, I approached the owners with a possibility of buying him but they declined, then shortly after that someone told me that Rufus was up for sale, so I got in touch with the owners again and paid the asking price, I was told that I was mad buying a 3 year old horse for Gary as his first ride. Rufus was not backed and the first thing we did was to show Rufus in hand as to get him used to the hassle of a horse show and he could not be entered into any riding classes till he was aged 4, Gary showed Rufus in hand until the last show of the season when Rufus became 4 then entered into a Novice Jumping class it was so funny Rufus used to canter up to the jump stop sniff it push the top bar off then jump it, the next year Gary Competed in Hunter trials
Show Jumping Dressage at the age of 15 and because Rufus was a Horse it meant Gary was competing against Adults and he learnt to lose before he could win I don't think I have ever told Gary this but I was proud of you son on the way you excepted defeat in a happy manner. Rufus Competed at County Level, and Gary wanted to turn to Affiliated, then Rufus developed Cancer and sadly was put down, his potential was never realized, the Photo's show seeing Rufus in a Field to the Troupies Gary and Rufus won, we all still miss this wonderful horse to this day |
